Výrazná osobnost druhé poloviny 80. let podílející se na utváření postmoderny na české výtvarné scéně. Od roku 1984 participoval na neoficiálních výstavách Konfrontace. Spoluzakladatel skupiny Tvrdohlaví (1987-1991). Od roku 1990 patřil ke kmenovým autorům pražské Galerie MXM. Autor řady dnes již ikonických děl, např. Skryté podoby představující frontální záběry stejných polovin obličejů v rámci nových snímků nebo projekt manipulovaných fotografií Bez soucitu, Moji rukojmí, neonové instalace Trnová koruna (nad Rudolfinem) nebo Červené srdce (nad Pražským hradem) v celé řadě různých médií (od malby, kresby, přes objekt a prostorové instalace, fotografie či texty), jež mají často performativní až provokativní charakter. Vedle tematizace paradoxu se zabývá rolí identity a pozicí umělce a umění ve společnosti.

9. 3. 2010 představil na náměstí Franze Kafky v Praze takzvanou Klíčovou sochu, jenž má symbolizovat jeho osobní polemiku s vývojem v České republice po 20 letech od sametové revoluce.

Byl vybrán mezinárodní odbornou porotou, aby svou interpretací Muchovy Slovanské epopeje reprezentoval Českou republiku na 56. Bienále v Benátkách.
2018
8. 10. 2018 představil na tiskové konferenci v Nové budově Národního muzea v Praze umělecké dílo, jímž interpretuje známý symbol pražského Národního muzea, kostru plejtváka myšoka, kterou pomocí moderních technologií přenáší do veřejného prostoru Václavského náměstí (k vidění po dobu dvou týdnů, do 28. 10. 2018). Umělecká instalace vznikla při příležitosti prvního použití nově vyvinutých speciálních kabelů společnosti PRAKAB při rekonstrukci historické budovy Národního muzea. Projekt „Chybí vám velryba?“ měl za cíl připomenout proslavený symbol muzea, který je již 125 let zavěšen pod stropem jednoho ze sálů historické budovy muzea na Václavském náměstí prostřednictvím umělecké instalace vytvořené významný českým umělcem.
