VIDEO DAY 1989/2018│First group exhibition of Czech videoart

September 4 2018, Prague

VIDEO DAY 1989/2018 is an event that freely reconstructs the first group exhibition of videoart in Czechoslovakia. The exhibition will take just one day (September 4th, 2018) just like the original VIDEO DAY and will take place in the same place (Prague Exhibition Grounds).

In July 1989, just before the Velvet Revolution, took place the historical landmark of the Czech videoart – the first group exhibition VIDEO DAY (DEN VIDEA) in Prague's Culture and Recreation Park, Julius Fučík.
The aim of its reconstruction for one day (September 4th, 2018) is to look at the early videoart from a distance and open the dialogue between past and present in relation to the perception and understanding of the electronic image.
"Presentations and projections in 1989 were only one day for economic and technological reasons. The current VIDEO DAY 1989/2018 will not be a literary museum reconstruction but an event taking place in identical scenes at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, where at the time of the exhibition there will be an open discussion about the circumstances leading to the neglect of this line in the creation of electronic image. "Adds to the exhibition curator Martin Mazanec .
