XXL Views of Contemporary Slovak Art | GASK

26 Czerwiec - 23 Październik 2016,

‘XXL Views of Contemporary Slovak Art’ is a long-term exhibition project that presents leading Slovak artists.  The artists are presented in a direct dialogue with recognised Slovak, Czech and international art historians, critics and theoreticians who focus on their work. It is the most important programmatic survey of Slovak art in the Czech Republic. The exhibition series was staged at the Slovak Institute in Prague from 2011 and has been staged at GASK since 2014.

A major exhibition summarising the entire programme to date will be held to mark the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2016. It will feature all the artists and art theoreticians included thus far, as well as other new artist-theoretician ‘partnerships’. The exhibition showcases the breadth and diversity of the contemporary Slovak art scene, interpreting it through a multigenerational survey of the participating artists’ programmes. It is being organised in collaboration between GASK, the Central Bohemian Region, the Institute of Art History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Bratislava Self-governing Region. The exhibition will be accompanied by a representative book published by Kant art publishers.
