Václav Cigler / Michal Motyčka: Light Field

Václav Cigler and Michal Motyčka created for the 90th anniversary of Václav Cigler for the big hall of the Gallery of Modern Art in Roudnice nad Labem a monumental site-specific installation called Light Field, 2018-2019. Light as a sovereign intangible art instrument as well as a symbol dominates the entire exhibition. Since the late 1950s, Václav Cigler has been devoted to drawing and glass plastics in his artwork. He was anticipating the emerging concepts of contemporary art expression (constructive tendencies, minimalism, land-art, light and kinetic plasticity). The domain of his work is working with space, with glass, light and water.
