Magdalena Abakanowicz│Marlborough Barcelona

November 17 2016 – January 7 2017, Start and end dates

The Marlborough Gallery exhibits the work of the Polish sculptor Magdalena Abakanowicz, recognized as one of the most powerful sculptors of the last fifty years, known especially for using of fiber in her work – in large structures hanging from the ceiling called Abakans.
The exhibition includes a group of works made between 1981 and 2009. Abakanowicz's work is undoubtedly linked to his personal experience and political and economic situation after German occupation in World War II and the subsequent communist regime imposed by the Soviet Union. Through different materials (wood, stone, paper, clay and especially bronze), Abakanowicz expresses many facets of the human being.
